Much of the artwork presented on the AllyDesigns site is a technique called Batique color wash. It is a non-digital style with many steps including graphite pencil on Vellum paper, followed by multiple layers of various colors of paint, then a layer of black India ink that, upon drying, is partially washed away. Like the Batique processes that use melted wax, the fun in this artist's work is never knowing completely how the resulting art work will turn out.
In the artist's words, "I learned the Batique color wash technique in my college art class and enjoyed it so much I decided to make it my specialty once I became a freelance designer."
